Shape files of administrative boundaries

The Scottish Goverrnment should provide access to the boundary information for a variety of public services, in common mapping formats such as Shapefile and KML.

Whilst it's possible to get hold of some boundaries, such as Westminster constituency boundaries, it would also be useful to have access to Police Scotland "beat" boundaries, local authority ward boundaries, NHS administrative boundaries and the other geographies that the government collects data against.

Why the contribution is important

This data would make it much easier for third parties to interrogate and illustrate geographic data provided by public authorities. It would also help promote collaboration between public authorities.
