The Question is what should culture mean to me?

To move forward we need to focus on how our past educates our futures. If we continue to trip over the same rocks in the road then some of us will go through this all again in 1, 2 or 3 years...with guess what the same outcomes.

So before I move any further forward I would cheekily put forward a few other questions to qualify my ideas further:

  • What is perceived to be broken? And repair/address these.
  • What do we want to be?
  • How do we want to do it?
  • By when?
  • How will we know we've arrived?

Yes cheeky questions but key to moving anywhere!

So my basis of a strategy...

  1. Has to be easy and rewarding for all.
  2. Has to be scaled appropriately and most importantly...achievable!
  3. It has to engage or it will fail spectacularly!

What does culture mean to me:

  • The cornerstones of culture – traditions and customs.
  • The imaginative human values.
  • A culture uses limited resources to satisfy its needs.
  • Behaviours
  • Religious, Economic, and Social structures.
  • Art, Music and Literature
  • And finally a common language!

I know this is a provoking dialogue, but for me I need to understand what is broken so I can apply any and all of the above to fix it.   I look forward to the challenges, the counter argument and furthering this very important discussion.

Why the contribution is important

All to readily forums like the '100 People Conversation' and many of the 'Ideas' that are posted here come down to funding eventually.  Funding that when won is then distributed in a fair fashion.  This is an eternal roundabout that we seem to go around time after time. Just dressed differently.  So I guess I'm not seeing what is going to be significantly and emotionally different...a step change if you will.
