Our weather is wet. We frequently use cars rather than walk or cycle simply because being wet is no fun. We spend a fortune on street furniture and I'd suggest we spend some of this throwing up roofs high over some of our narrow streets. Shelter along major thoroughfares would also work, and new town centre construction work should be required to give us shelter.

Why the contribution is important

It's not important. But it would be nice and nice is good! Inverness spent a lot of money a few years ago on improving the underfoot experience. Unfortunately, it's not long till it's getting dug up again....and anyway, I've still been getting wet. A roof in some streets would make our town centres accessible and comfortable and would need little maintenance. If we don't do it, folk will continue to drive their comfortable cars to comfortable retail malls and our town centre will continue to suffer

Who is going to keep the roofs clean? If it is a glass roof, it gets dirty very quickly, and then no light gets down to the narrow street, and it becomes very dark.
