When is a carer not a carer?

I received carers allowance till midnight of the night before I received my state pension, aged 62 and three quarters.   I have cared for my daughter for 42 years and had the same amount of caring duties as a pensioner as I had  the day before I became a pensioner.  My contemporaries receive a state pension as I do but I still have a full time caring job.   Someone should be looking at the extra work caring pensioners still take on and acknowledge the contribution they make.

Why the contribution is important

There is a huge saving to the economy because of the contribution unpaid carers make.  It would be socially just to acknowledge this.
