ASN provision

It would be wrong for ASN school provision to close again or go to blended learning.

Class sizes are much smaller. Many children were traumatised by school closure during lockdown already and would really suffer a second time. Many families reached crisis point and needed emergency support from social work. Some children cannot learn online, i.e those with complex needs and severe autism. Socialisation is part of their curriculum.

Borders Council and others kept ASN provision open and we did not hear of outbreaks there.

All avenues should be explored, i. e. using other spaces, before closing ASN provision in any way again.

Why the contribution is important

To prtect the wellbeing of children with ASN and avoid family crisis and breakdown.
