Clarity

The government needs to up its game when deciding and publicising restrictions. Don't get me wrong, it's a measure of a country how it looks after the most vulnerable in society. A lot of the time they get ignored but with Covid we know what needs to be done. Keep it out of care homes and away from the elderly without it meaning they never see their families. That means keeping cases low until we get a vaccine, which will be here soon.
A simpler regime of restrictions, with only four levels which can be reinforced every time FM, CMO and NCD step behind a lectern or a microphone. Right now plenty of people break the rules and say it's because they don't know them and no-one blames them because they feel the exact same way. It needs to be clearer what needs to happen for restrictions to be relaxed or imposed. This way anyone can see the way things are going and plan their lives and work better. It needs to be based on specific criteria, numbers of cases per 100,000 over 7 days, say.

Why the contribution is important

Trust in the Scottish Government has been much higher than South of the border but it's starting to look shaky. Most people want to stop the spread of the virus but they need clearer rules to follow. We need a simple traffic light Covid code.
