Close pubs Takeaway only

Pubs and drinking establishments move to only takeaway. Alcohol is not a necessity and meeting up in pubs is not either. People get drunk, forget lose their inhibitions and then spread COVID. Why has precedence been given to these establishments over other businesses like cinemas, gyms etc. One out all out is what is fair and just! Other businesses are a suffering too!

Why the contribution is important

COVID is spread far too easily in pubs and clubs. Too many people without masks.

Pubs are making up only about 3-5% of reported cases the problem is not with pubs it’s with house parties and people going into their families or friends house. The hospitality industry has been made the scape goat the past few weeks with a 10pm curfew imposed which has killed businesses. There should be more checks by police and EHO officers but closing them is not a solution. I work in a pub and our measures have been so detailed and done so well we have had so many comments and reviews about how incredible they are, hospitality is not the problem idiots who have a house party with 40 people are. If it was the hospitality industry that was causing this spike it would have happened in July/august not September/October.

I feel this move is back to front - those who want to drink will drink AT HOME with no guarantee that they are away from other people while those drinking in a hospitality site are drinking in a much tighter controlled area with lower cross infection chances. In other words keep hospitality open but restrict off-sales instead!
