disabled people & permanent working from home
There are deaf and disabled people like myself working in workplaces wear all staff have to wear face masks or communicate through face masks, or do social distancing.
I cannot wear a mask, I cannot lip read through a mask, I cannot social distance.
I have multiple disabilities yet seemingly do not fall into the vulnerable category.
My already fragile mental health is through the roof because I cannot do my job.
Great that working from home is the default BUT is Covid Secure here to stay? If workplaces make their changes permanent, then my struggles will be permanent.
I already struggle to visit shops, hairdressers, doctors, vets, dentists etc.
Please give disabled people the right to work from home. If you lift the default, keep it for disabled people. Make exemptions etc much clearer. The Scottish Government risk assessment for employers to use is terrible with regards to disabled people - change this.
Unison trade union campaigning for right to work from home for disabled people beyond Covid.
Scottish Government should do this.

Why the contribution is important
To protect disabled employees from workplace discrimination and to avoid Covid 19 being used as an excuse to discriminate.

There should be at least a good legacy from this nightmare, companies have shown that they are able to function with people working from home when before they said it was impossible and that they could not make an exception for disabled people.
