Don’t close hospitality in Arran

Dear Scottish government.
I understand you are being guided by science. And that you want to use targeted interventions. And that you don’t want to ruin hospitality where possible.
Why don’t you allow Arran to operate as the rest of the country outside of the central belt. There are 0 cases of COVID-19 in Arran. 0. Nil. Nada.
So why would you lock Arran down, crippling the businesses there at the time of the October holidays when many people will be planning to spend huge sums of money and help these businesses.
There is no Public health reason for it.

Why the contribution is important

The economy matters, many islands economies are heavily dependent on tourism. This will be the death knell in many businesses in Arran.
Arran is being unfairly targeted due to the healthboard it is in, not based on any science.
It has no cases at all. Why is it being shut down?!?!?

Totally agree with this. Arran has had no cases at all for around 4 months and hospitality Industry there has already been severely affected. Should not be treated in the same way as they mainland parts of Ayrshire

If Arron is made an exception to the blanket regulations on full health board areas then they would have to look at other small areas which have no cases either. There are many of them.

While the situation is slightly different on an island you would have to stop people coming on and off or it is no different to other towns adversely affected by these blanket rules.

You are right, there does appear to be no science or logic in locking down areas with no / low rates just because they fall in a health board and leaving area with high rates eg Dundee open.

Totally agree. Arran relies on tourism and the school holidays are just about to start. Very narrow minded not to take a wider look at figures and not a blanket approach based on Health Boards. Come on people you should be able to do better. Step back from being rabbits caught in head lights and use some common sense. The economy needs to get moving. We must be told where the specific cases are so we can take an informed decision whether we want to visit somewhere.
