Edinburgh council is forcing a low traffic neighbourhood onto the residents of East Craigs against their wishes. The are spending emergency covid response money to fund and covid as an excuse to use a temporary traffic order to carry out their plans. Thy are doing this to avoid local consultation. When challenged they lie about previous research and consultation.

Why the contribution is important

It makes a mockery of covid response. It wastes public money. it has no impact on the covid virus. Worst of all it destroys trust and belief in democracy.

Exactly this. It is an affront to democracy. A blatant misuse of power and government funds.
Please Stop councils misusing power under the guise of covid.

The money may be needed to fight COVID and should be kept for this purpose

Everything the council has done surrounding the East Craigs LTN is nothing short of a scandal! I have always let the council get on with their job as i trust they do what is right for the residents. That trust is gone, i have watched 3 council meetings and attended a lecture from the transport convener at the Gyle park, the amount of drivel being spoken is unreal, stop this madness now! The council will be found out!

This is flagrant abuse of power and makes a mockery of the situation. Has to stop.

In Edinburgh there have been extensive road changes which particularly adversely affect elderly and less mobile people's ability to get around the City / access facilities. There has been no equality impact assessment.

Agree this is a misuse of funds. The area scored the lowest for impact on distancing for all areas tested, yet deemed an emergency and getting funding for an u needed LTN that already exists.

This will not help prevent the spread of Covid.

Glasgow is a mess thanks to these types of land grabs...huge swathes of pavement have been extended for members of the oublic that simly are not there. it also prevents parking, so anyone wanting to support cafes and bars can't park in the city and are forced to use public transport, increasing your risk....so why would you

Hijacking a global pandemic to cover up the chaos engendered through their enabling wildly unpopular massive housing developments on green belt is disingenuous at best, criminally-negligent at worst. Wanton and reckless mockery of the democratic process. We will not roll over and play ball.

As a cyclist and pedestrian, I still need to reluctantly use my car for several journeys (weekly shop which I cannot carry by foot, going to work as Edinburgh city council does not offer a worthwhile route by bus, seeing my family outside Corstorphine, to name a few)...... the road closures that CEC is imposing on us are frankly dangerous for all and despite what the CEC says, it was not part of the consultation that took place in 2019.
Using COVID to impose these closures on us is wrong and the CEC knows that... but they have 3000 or so new houses in Cammo and that is the way they had planned ages ago to manage traffic...

Please, please.. in the name of democracy and to ensure everyone safety, consult the people who have put you in your job.

Our roads will be more dangerous for all road users if the LTN proceeds, emergency response times will be longer, pollution will be higher and mental health issues will increase if we reduce ability of people to move safely and for carers/groceries/essential services to be delivered to them.

Covid risk will not be reduced by an LTN and the funds should be sent to front line healthcare instead of a vanity project. LTNs that were rushed through earlier in the pandemic are now having to be removed as they were ill conceived and in many cases dangerous, causing damage to the communities they were meant to protect.

Criminal misuse of funds imposing a LTN on a quiet, safe neighbourhood simply to bypass planning and democratic consultation . CEC should be ashamed of themselves.

Please stop using COVID as an excuse to advise city of edinburgh council to close roads in the East Craigs LTN. No equality impact assessments done, no safety audits either. No sound legal advise taken by city of edinburgh council either.

A blatant excuse to rush things through. Money could be used for much more important things. No consultation over things and the thoughts of Disabled people totally ignored. Disability Scotland state a clear discrimination breach.

Edinburgh council are using Covid as a guise to push their anti car agenda and make massive changes without consultation. This is undemocratic and frankly very stressful for residents at an already stressful time. The Scottish Government needs to intervene and stop this misuse of power.
