Give us the evidence for mask wearing

Tell us why we need to keep wearing masks when it appears they are not doing any good.

Why the contribution is important

Cases have done nothing but go up since we had to wear face coverings. And yet despite this there is talk about us having to wear these in even more places. Give us the evidence behind this as it seems to be just making us do something for the sake of it with no proof it’s making a difference.

There is now a lot of evidence that mask wearing is very effective in limiting Covid transmission. For example: https://www.ed.ac.uk/covid-19-response/latest-news/face-coverings-covid-19-transmission-risk https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2768532 https://www.ed.ac.uk/covid-19-response/latest-news/masks-block-spread-of-covid-linked-droplets https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/aug/26/non-woven-masks-better-to-stop-covid-19-says-japanese-supercomputer It depends on the type of mask though, how it's worn/handled and how well it seals around the mouth. Not only is there scientific evidence but in countries where mask wearing is the norm, the death tolls are very low.

Completely agree. We have been advised to wear a mask as it can spread the virus yet when testing for it the sample has to be taken right from the back of the throat... if it was spread by breathing or talking, why is the test so intrusive?

Masks are horrible and should be stopped at once.
