Grandparents/ family support

Please allow grandparents to continue to see their grandchildren indoors with no travel restrictions to get to them.

Why the contribution is important

Our children and young people are really suffering, as are grandparents. My mental health as a grandparent suffered when I couldn't see my grandchildren during lockdown. I missed their birthdays and they have missed 3 planned holiday times with me already this year due to the various restrictions. I offer family support, informal childcare during key holiday periods and they keep me young and energised. I do not go to pubs, clubs or restaurants, it's just not my thing! I do like offering new experiences for my grandchildren, educating them in a special way, one that most parents don't have the time or the energy for! Please keep us able to meet and don't separate us any more. Informal childcare is so valuable for all. Deny us this and there will be so much more family stress come Christmas!

i think the trauma of spreading covid to your grandparents (vulnerable) is worst than the one of speaking with them by facetime, protect them while you still have them :(

Totally agree LS7, however not all grandparents are old and frail or vulnerable. I'm only 50, I am a grandparent and work full time in education. Limited as to when I can have holiday time to school holidays generally. Where there are no other circumstance common sense should prevail.

Grandparents are not all old and frail.
We are grandparents. We walk at least 5 miles every day.
