Impose Circuit Breaker Based On Infection Rates
The potentially ruinous ‘circuit breaker’ measures should be implemented in areas based on their infection rate per 100,000.
Currently, there seems little need to impose further measures in many areas of Scotland, where figures show hospital admissions are below 5 and infection rates fall well within the manageable range.
It’s a different story in Glasgow, Lothian & Ayrshire however, and that is where the focus should be at the moment - quite why further measures have not been imposed there is difficult for the rest of the country to understand - and stricter measures there (5 mile travel limit, hospitality closure as per Aberdeen when the rate was 10 times lower) - before further measures are imposed on the whole of Scotland, which would be completely unfair.

Why the contribution is important
It’s important to show that the Scottish Government are dealing with the crises fairly and consistently. If further measures were imposed in the areas with the worst infection rates, it would bring the number of cases down in Scotland whilst allowing other areas to protect their fragile local economies.
