Just copy what appears to be working, such as Germany’s and Italy’s approach

The main reason why the UK is back to being one of Europe’s most affected countries is because what here is an “advice”, in other countries is law and it is enforced by the police.
If face masks are compulsory in shops and on buses, those who don’t wear it should be fined for the first time (min. £250), the fine should be triple for the second time, and after the second time you should go to court, and jail.
Do you have a medical condition? It should be proven by a specialist doctor, after detailed analysis. I know many nurses who suffer from asthma, and they still wear masks without any problem.
Do you organise a flat party? No problem, you can all go having it in jail, only problem there won’t be any alcohol.
Do we want to go on holiday to a country where there are less cases than in Scotland? There’s no problem, as long as the destination country accepts us (and Germany for example, now doesn’t). It just doesn’t make sense that one can’t go on holiday to Greece, where there are far less cases than in Scotland. And if it’s a country with more cases, just make people take a test upon arrival and another one after 5 days, and then quarantine ends. Just copy what Germany does, it works! And Scotland will also look friendlier to the EU, rather than getting even farther from it.

Why the contribution is important

The tourism industry is one of the most important industries in Scotland, and by following England’s approach you are destroying it.
Just get close to the EU.
I’ve lived in Scotland for 6 years now and people usually follows the laws. The problem is that the guidances issued in the last months are not laws, they are not enforced, and there are not sufficient consequences if someone doesn’t follow them.
Face masks on the streets are compulsory in Naples, a city where usually laws are not followed. But people wear face masks because on the main streets there are the local police telling people to do so. I see the police going around the Meadows and do nothing, just get some policemen board the buses sometimes, and persecute people who don’t wear a mask.

Unfortunately, this approach criminalises normal activity rather than actual criminal behaviour.

I agree with Catlady, none of these people are criminals, though that is the way they are certainly being treated

Why not copy what appears to be working - Sweden - better results than Germany and Italy and no need to imprison people who don't want to virtue signal about how they are saving lives when in reality everyone is going to get coivd eventually and you are doing no such thing.
