Longer term planning

Develop “living with COVID” plans that are designed to be operational for 3 years.

Why the contribution is important

We need to move from firefighting reactionary measures to an acceptance that a vaccine will not be widely available for at least 12 months and that COVID will be here for at least 12 months. Plans for health & social care, education and justice need to be based on this acceptance and sustainable long term changes to behaviour management and infrastructure introduced. These systems need to be in place for at least 3 years to enable start up, implementation and wind down. Clear budget and leadership put in place for each element FM cannot do it all. Schools have adapted. Universities need to try harder. Justice needs to change methods to clear back log. If you think that this is a 3 year plan not a 4wk circuit breaker then a different set of measures are clear.

Would like to see this extended to city planning too - with more priority given on open spaces for pedestrians and reduced priority for cars.

Definitely do long term planning. Even if coronavirus gets a vaccine at least we might be better prepared for any future health crisis.
