Masks must be worn

Lately while shopping in my local coop and tesco I have noticed so many people not wearing masks, when I have asked people why no mask they just say covid I'd just a load of rubbish . I won't tell you my answer to this comment . Also teenagers waltzing in and out of shops with no masks excuse being Asthma, well I also have Asthma and still wear a mask . Teanagers with a football in their hands did not look like their Asthma was so bad . I believe masks should be compulsory in shops to help us to stay safe from infection.

Why the contribution is important

For those that have an exemption from wearing a face masks, which there will be a number of people - a face shield must be worn.
One or the other no debate!

Perhaps some of these people have legitimate health problems that they do not wish to discuss with random people hassling them whilst they try to shop. Why not just mind your own business.

Exemptions in legislation are there for a reason. Masks should only be worn by those that are not exempt

I agree facemasks should be worn in all shopping environments but also think they should be worn in all work places as well and if they can't wear a face mask for medical reasons a face shield should be worn instead, we need to save life's and care more for others, and try to control this virus until we can find a vaccine.

Quite telling that there are not many comments on this topic. Going back to the start of the pandemic the journey the UK has gone through regarding mask wearing has been torturous and a lot of the blame lies at the foot of the UK government. They told us that masks were not necessary, could actually cause harm, could prevent NHS staff having access to PPE. This was all shown to be nonsense and in the end masks were made mandatory in many settings. . Compare that to Asian countries where people have been wearing masks all along without having to be told by governments.

The evidence on mask wearing is more and more clear. A significant amount of research has been now carried out on masks and we know how important they are in limiting the spread of the virus and protecting both the people around us and to some extent the wearer. Yet we are still behind other countries in our attitudes and our regulations on masks. While other Europeans countries are now even mandating their use outdoors, where the risk of spreading Covid is relatively low, the Scottish government has reached the stage of mandating their use in corridors, i.e. the places where people pass through for seconds on their way to the place they work for hours. If masks are necessary in shops and now corridors, where people pass each other briefly, they are certainly needed in workplaces and we need to have that in law ASAP.
