Serious fines for stores etc not enforcing rules

Given the large amount of business that still allow people to ignore restrictions regarding the virus, is it not time to treat the restrictions the same way we treat restricted items?

If a business sells tobacco/alcohol/lottery tickets etc to underage children they can receive fines that can reach £20,000. Not because they're the ones who intended to break the law, but because they facilitated law-breaking due to their negligence.

Right now, if someone wants to break the law they're simply asked on entry to not break it next time, if anything is said at all. If steep fines were introduced, and more importantly actually enforced, for businesses allowing people to put others at risk on their premises, I believe we'd see a significant fall in the amount of people not wearing masks in public.

Why the contribution is important

People refusing to wear masks when they are required to puts everyone else at risk, while they are protected by everyone else. A large majority of businesses are not enforcing mask use and it is clear action needs to be taken if this is to change.

Good idea. Some supermarkets have been great. Others not so. People ignore the one way signs on the floor and nobody even bats an eyelid - even the staff often don't follow the one way guidance
