State how long for you're prepared to wait for a vaccine

The Scottish Government's strategy seems to be maximum suppression until a vaccine. It would be good, for starters, if this could be clearly stated. Then, state how long you're prepared to wait for a vaccine while keeping these measures in place.

Why the contribution is important

If a vaccine was four weeks away, it is very likely that a majority of the Scottish population would agree with keeping social distancing measures until then, particularly if support was offered to sectors unable to operate. If, however, a vaccine was twenty years away, it is very unlikely that a majority of the Scottish population would accept to live like this for so long (not to mention the fact that, after twenty years of financial devastation, Covid would be the least of our problems).
The timescale for a vaccine probably lies somewhere in the middle. It is of course impossible to determine when one will be developed and how effective it will be. But what we can determine is how long we're prepared to wait for one, and at what cost. This should be clearly communicated to the population so that they can at least choose whether it's worth for them to stay in Scotland or whether they'd be better off emigrating to a country where they might find some prospects of earning a living, keeping a modicum of mental health and leading some form of social life.

Agreed. People seem to think that finding a vaccine will cure everyone but he reality is we have no idea if a vaccine will work and even if we do find one it could be 5 years before it is universally available. We cannot wait indefinitely
