Targeted lockdown

Lockdown all those over 60 apart from key workers. This will build some form of herd immunity amongst the population least likely to become seriously ill.
Financially support those in lockdown, and employ the young to provide services for those in lockdown.

Why the contribution is important

This means that economy stays open, protects nhs, and employs the young

I agree building herd immunity via the young and healthy is a good thing. Perhaps if we had done that earlier in the year before the seasonal effects of respiratory diseases kicks in we would be in a much better position now. And for those that say this is not a viable option, what do you think a vaccine is?However, enforcing all aged 60+ into lockdown whether they want to or not is rather totalitarian. Give them a choice and support them if they choose that option, otherwise, let them get on with their lives like everyone else. I’m sure they will consider the Covid risk just like any other health risk, something they have been doing for a good many years.

A lot of over 60s are working and a lot of under 60s have significant ill health.
Just choosing any old age isn't the answer, it must be about individual vulnerability
