Time to ease restrictions

I think we’re at a point where death stats are so low that the measures in place are above and beyond what is needed. Many people now realise that for the vast majority of people (99%) the virus is not deadly nor significant. The death numbers and hospitilisation numbers show this. Yes, cases are up, however deaths have not increased dramatically as would have been expected.
In my opinion we’re at the point where we should be opening up the economy whilst advising the vulnerable to shield. We need to start getting back to normal. After all, the whole reason for the restrictions inthe first place was to “save the NHS”.

Why the contribution is important

Lockdown has shown that there is more to lose with the restrictions than there is in opening up. Suicide figures have shot up, COVID deaths have decreased dramatically contrary to case numbers rising. The burden onthe NHS has already been eased, which was the whole point of the measures in the first place. Let’s start working towards getting back to normal.

We know far more than we did in March and the cure is now proving so much worse than the disease - in terms of lack of treatment of other health conditions and job losses.

I feel that now is the time for the population to start building up their immune systems to this virus by actually being exposed to it, the mortality rate is currently so low we need to move forward with building the economy which in turn will improve hearts and minds, this virus will be here with us for many months/years and we cannot hide from it so need to tackle it head on while shielding the most vulnerable where possible.

Completely agree...we must start living life properly again. Negligible risk to vast majority but lockdown is killing more whether it be cancelled hospital appointments/treatments, depression, substance abuse to deal with it.

The virus is not going away and no amount of restrictions will make this happen. There is greater suffering and conditions being worsened by these cruel restrictions

Completely agree, those who choose to isolate can do so. The figures do not support more measures, we should be concerned with hospital admissions and death fugures not asymptomatic "cases".
