Weddings back to normal!

The celebration of a couple getting married should not be limited to an allowance of 20 people in attendance - a figure which includes your photographer (who will never be close enough to the couple anyway) and children, when the rules for children under 12 are excluded from all other guidance.

Weddings should be allowed to go ahead with a number that venues can accommodate safely if social distancing is to be the norm from now on. Telling couples to choose between their most trusted and loved family and friends is ridiculous and heart breaking when you can sit in pub or restaurant full of strangers but cannot celebrate with your loved ones.

The evening reception is where cake cutting, first dances and the partying takes place - this should be able to go ahead without unnecessary restrictions. Wedding Band/DJs/Pipers should be given fast track testing to allow for this to happen and allow for people to celebrate safely.

The heartache of postponing a wedding once is bad enough but the unknown of your new date in the Spring fast approaching is even more stressful. The impact on a couples mental health, finances as well as the detrimental effect this is having on the wedding and entertainment industry is appalling and disgusting.

Why take people's dream day away from them when there are ways and means to celebrate safely?

1. There should be mandatory temperature checks for each guest upon arrival to venue
2. Maximum guest allowance that a venue can accommodate with social distancing
3. No masks to be worn unless moving around the venue. If guests are seated (as in similar circumstances at a restaurant or pub), masks can be removed especially for the Bride and Groom to not wear a mask during their ceremony.
4. Entertainment (Band/DJ/Piper) - fast track testing/mandatory temperature checks

Why the contribution is important

My idea is important as it is a bid to save an industry that provides so much to our economy but an industry that means so much to so many people.

My idea is important in terms of preserving the mental health of couples and for the Government to realise that a wedding is a celebration of love and two people coming together that should be shared with whoever they want - without the stress of cutting people out and or the sadness on the day that couples could not have some people there that would mean so much.

I agree! It is so much easier to track and trace when there are at least 2 people in the room who know everyone there! My fiancé and I are desperate to have our day as planned in April! We need cheering up after all this!
