Working from Home

There are companies forcing employees to come to work on 2 days a week where we can work from home. As the cases are increasing its bit anxious to mix with other ppl in same room when mixing with other household are not meeting indoor. Especially our office had Covid positive case. Why can’t government make legal to work from home as the employers continue to force to come to work.

Why the contribution is important

It can help others mixing outside their household also help in reducing cases as we have small children at home if we get positive then their school will be disturbed

I hate the idea to work from home - a lot of things I need are in the office and I need it for my mental health to get out of my house.
I also don't have the space to work effectively from home + I am disturbed when other household members are at home.
Encouragement for employers to let people work from home I agree with but making it legal to work from home I totally disagree.

I have been working at home since before lockdown to enable the company to make more space for those who couldn't work at home. I cannot wait to get back into the office as I am looking forward to some social contact with my colleagues. We are no longer working at home we are living at work and the prospect of a full winter at home is depressing.

There are indeed too many irresponsible employers who are encouraging or even forcing workers to return to unsafe office environments when they could be - and have been - working from home. This is clearly against the Government regulations regarding non-essential offices and home working. The First Minister mentioned that they would look at legislating on this matter if compliance from employers was not high enough such that workers would have the right to work from home where possible. I think this is required given the numerous examples of irresponsible employers which I see in my local area and sadly have first hand experience of - my own employer reclassified a number of staff as 'essential' and encouraged them back to the office after 4 months of working successfully from home in an effort to try to justify their disregard of Government guidelines.
