A Better Future Symposium

As tempting as it is to focus on right now (as plenty of people rightfully have on this forum), I am compelled to pay attention to the frailties that have been exposed over the past few months (political opacity, pollution, transport, social care & well being etc) and we should act now to cement a plan to allow direct and clear 2 way communication between the public and the government about how we not only move out of the current situation but also how we move towards a better life and a better future.

This very forum is an encouraging first step in this direction and should not be a single use tool.

Why the contribution is important

We are in a unique position to begin putting in place future strategies for the benefit of everyone and this should not be squandered by focusing exclusively on short term reward.

It is imperative we do not move backwards from this point in history.

This seems to be a good idea as we wont be in this position forever and we need to plan an ecologically sound and safe future for ourselves and the planet

A good idea but let’s do this virtually and help reduce risk of further Covid-19 spread.

great idea, we need to be able to communicate better with our politicians and express our real life experience with groups such as this.

Agreed. Let’s learn from this period and consider what’s working/ not working/ could work better; respond to address gaps exposed in key areas (health/ care/ welfare/ criminal justice/ climate/ etc); and seek to create a new ‘normal’ that’s much better, fairer and more respectful than our old ‘normal’.
