A click and collect style system for all vital shops

Going into food shops currently is very stressful. It's hard to social distance inside and you are touching and bringing home produce that has been touched or coughed on by others. A way to help with this is to make it mandatory for most shops to offer some form of click and collect service, either online or over the phone.

If everyone - except people who don't have the resources to order in advance - used this and were given a specific time slot to pick up, it will reduce the amount of contact the staff have had to the public, mean the produce has not been exposued to the general public and reduce the risk that comes with trying to shop in store.

I know that currently many businesses like Tesco's offer a click and collect option but not everyone has access to these stores within walking distance and it is not the main way that the majority of their customers do their shopping.

Why the contribution is important

If the vast majority of the population had to click and collect their shopping and were given a specific time slot to pick up, it will reduce the amount of contact the staff have had to the public, mean the produce has not been exposued to the general public and reduce the risk that comes with trying to shop in store. It will also ease some people's anxiety and help prevent people from stockpiling

We should concentrating on keeping all services that CAN be non-contact that way. Why introduce risk where it's unnecessary?

If we do need to reintroduce risk we NEED to concentrate on where contact is prioritised and absolutely essential. For example, health screening NOT trips to garden centres of golf courses.
