A Wellbeing Budget for Scotland
To take forward the initiative already outlined in the First Minister's TED Talk in 2019, to establish a Wellbeing Budget for Scotland like that used from 2019 in New Zealand.
Why the contribution is important
The national response to Covid 19 and the lockdown, with home working, home schooling etc and the rapid adoption of new day-to-day behaviours has firstly shown that we are a very adaptable people, and secondly led us all to review what things are truly important for our overall Wellbeing. Money and GDP is not everything. The New Zealand coalition government took the brave step (with all-party support) to re-frame their 2019 budget around national indicators of Wellbeing. It cost very little, and has been universally applauded. Scotland has already mapped out the potential indicators.
