AA and NA

Some people close to me rely on AA and NA for their sobriety and to help them stay clean. Since lockdown they have had no access to meetings - there are online meetings but for elderly members online meetings are difficult if not impossible to navigate.

I was wondering if the government had considered reaching out to these organisations and encouraging / allowing them to consider small group meetings of 10 or less members in order to at least help those who are already members, to help them not backslide.

One person I love very much tells me that if she hadn't been able to get to regular meetings when she was first getting sober, she'd have never have made it and would probably be dead from alcohol abuse by now.

This makes me concerned for how we can support these members of our society through this time, so that they have the support that will increase their chances of staying clean/sober despite the added stress of covid fears, the lockdowns and social distancing.

Why the contribution is important

to consider how we can help some of our most vulnerable members of society to have the support they need at this time, while still minimising risk of covid transmission.
