Address inconsistencies in School Support for Home Learning

Some Schools are providing Google Classroom and Microsoft teams and various other technical support systems for parents homeschooling children. Others have only provided a handful of worksheets and the odd Facebook post. We need to ensure schools are sharing best practice and learning from each other to bring our children the best learning experience we can as we move into the next stages of this process.

Why the contribution is important

Learning is patchy, Parents are struggling and the lower levels of support being offered in some ears risks the Scottish Governments attainment gap targets being missed.

completely agree, the education is currently a mess, and the leaders need to step up otherwise no-one will take their profession seriously every again.

I agree, but it needs to be recognised that many parents are still working full time, or trying to WFH or run businesses.

It’s just not practical for lots of people to educate while trying to keep a roof over their heads.

Some children should be given the opportunity to repeat the year. My youngest was P1 and she had barely even settled in properly. She has regressed a lot since lockdown started - I’m seeing behaviour I haven’t seen since she was a toddler. It’s going to take a long time to get her settled again.
