It is unfeasible to force everyone to carry a mobile phone and to carry them everywhere.

It is also open to abuse of data. Once that data is in a system it will be there forever, despite GDPR. Future, less benevolent, governments may use such data for all sorts non-COVID19 activities. Great for a police state, awful for a free democratic society.

I think the app is a good idea. Obviously cannot be mandatory, but most adults have iPhones and most are socially responsible and would cooperate. Personally not worried about information protection as have nothing to hide. Before people travelled so widely they lived in small group where everything about everybody was know. Perhaps we should know more about those around us.

Where it has been demonstrated that certain groups of school children have no access to computers to assist their education while on lockdown, computers were made available to those in need. In the same way I think it is important that those who do not have access to a mobile phone to allow them to download the app should be given a phone that can support the app (with the condition it is downloaded and used). Many elderly folk will also not have a suitable phone. I am not sure whether a basic machine which would only allow the app to work could be developed, rather than a full mobile, but everyone needs to have the ability to monitor whether they have come into contact with someone with the virus. Many companies are donating funds to help the fight against coronavirus, surely the large phone companies could donate the necessary equipment or at least offer it to the govt at cost.

No thanks, the current app has serious issues and unless rectified many won't use it.
