Against Restriction of Travel (Single person)

I have concerns of my own of not being able to travel (alone) outwith the region I live. Currently in lockdown I have been unable to visit family in another region of the country. As a single occupant of a car and visiting another single occupant I feel it would be unreasonable to stop myself travelling outwith the region I live (alone).

Why the contribution is important

I believe this is important as 1, it allows a sole occupant of a car to freely move region to either work, visit family (when safe to do so), 2, as a single occupant of a car travelling out with the region will limit the spread of the virus compared to large groups in a car going to visit another group

This would make a significant positive difference to individuals without an increase in risk so long as all mitigating practices are adhered to.

Agree with this sentiment. Single people living alone and practicing physical distancing should be able to travel to other regions to visit relatives who are following physical distancing measures.

Anyone travelling from one area to another us fraught with risk. Some additional assurances on health condition would be required Before anyone could be considered safe to travel

I agree. Car travel as an individual (or family) poses little real infection risk for anyone.

It's bizarre it's perfectly allowed to spread your germs around daily in shops, but frowned upon to drive somewhere, alone, for recreation.

We seem to have forgotten the real reason for the restrictions!

I agree with the idea as I am a single occupant here and my family and boyfriend live 50 miles away. It's been a real challenge mentally. A lot of assurances to be made but I would love the opportunity to visit with me being the only occupant of the car and an agreement that I will need to be aware of risks and precautions.

Agree however if Scotland ends up easing lockdown after England what will be done the other way to ensure people don’t start travelling to Scotland from places already out of lockdown?

My girlfriend and I live 100 miles apart and we live on our own. We are both fit and healthy with no medical issues and travelling alone in a car will pose no risk to any third party. This lengthy separation is very difficult for both of us.

I wholeheartedly agree that where 1 single member of a family has ended up 'stuck' on their own away from their family (possibly because they worked away from home), they should be allowed to make that car journey home. Yes, there will need to be checks in place, but if this is not allowed, there will be more and.more people coming up with desperate ways to come home and see their family!

As a retired Infection Control and Prevention Nurse, in my professional opinion, I see no harm in taking a drive 'isolated' in a car in the fresh air to get out of the house. However, this thought does not approve of gatherings of people in close proximity outdoors or indoors during the journey.
Of course, my opinion is biased as I live alone (with 2 dogs) so contact with others can be easily restricted .

I think this is something that will happen once restrictions are eased. My understanding is that initially travel by car was stopped to avoid emergency services and hospitals being burdened with accidents.
