Airport Arrival TESTING
Why quarantine people which is more damaging to the economy instead of putting in place a testing system for Scottish airport arrivals.
Or quarantine those coming from more high risk countries rather than all countries.
Or quarantine those coming from more high risk countries rather than all countries.
Why the contribution is important
Many countries have a much lower rate of disease than the UK so why does it make sense to quarantine these arrivals. Equally, quarantine means more people unable to work, essential work not able to take place abroad and also causes further strain on social interaction. People arriving in the UK may not have seen loved ones in many many weeks and to prolong this is very upsetting. Testing also allows us to gain a picture of the roll foreign travel plays on the spread of disease in the uk. If low antigen numbers are an issue, why not introduce paired tests and use contact tracing apps to prevent further outbreaks.

When I arrived into Aberdeen airport 3rd February, having travelled from Jakarta, KL, Amsterdam and finally into Aberdeen the first thing I did was to complain to immigrations that I had not been tested. At that time there was a mere A5 sheet of paper saying if you’ve been to Wuhan in last 15days and present symptoms you should self isolate. As I said to immigrations then, IF we had been testing in February and everyone that came from a known infected country self isolated for 14days then this could well have been prevented.
We are now at a point that the UK ‘in country’ infections are on the decline, we can not risk another wave due to people who have isolated in other countries coming back and spiking us again. Just look at what happened to other countries when they reopened their borders...we need to learn from their mistakes.
However I’d also like to point out that to reduce the persons temperature on the tempanic thermometers a person simply has to take ibuprofen within an hour of getting their temperature taken and will pass the test to get on the plane. Any doctor’s letters are only as good as the time they were seen and written so also a wasteful paper and time exercise. Added to this fact is that not all people will have a high temperature as with asymptomatic carriers which had to have been walking around oblivious to their part in the spread way before first case in Wuhan.
The only way to ensure no further cases come into the country is by isolating for the 14days. People could
easily pick up the virus when travelling, in the airports or the planes they may well not be presenting symptoms on arrival
at the airport, but in 5.2 days they may well be..

I am thinking about those who work abroad and need to return home to family and friends after an already long period .

If they can get enough tests to be able to test all passengers immediately on arrival that would be the way to go...
Just need the test kits in mass quantities.

Another 14 days will not be hard To help save lives and keep numbers down... just wish the flouters would think like that...
And it’s months we’ve not had the family together not weeks.
