Allow children longer journeys to see grandparents

Young children, who cannot understand what is happening in the world right now, are being hugely impacted by lockdown.

Allow longer journeys to visit small family groups to alleviate the total isolation and confusion they are feeling.

Why the contribution is important

Young children's emotional and mental wellbeing is being compromised. Allowing visits to close family, e.g. grandparents, would help massively in the coming weeks.

Agree totally with this. Grandparents are vital in the lives of young kids. Ours live 1 hour away and the effect of no contact for 7 weeks is detrimental to us all.

Absolutely agree. The cure is becoming worse than the punishment. If the grandparent s are frail or otherwise vulnerable then this may not be a good idea. Allow people to use common sense.

Our grandchildren are 400 miles away. Do not think this is viable to visit them for a while. Even locally a danger of virus transmission to older grandparents.

I agree as long as social distancing at other end. Being able to sit in garden 2m apart would bring a lot of joy and would provide some much needed light for the tunnel in which we are in

Our grandchldren are spread throught Scotand, therefore I wouldn't consider this. We probably have more interaction on social media than previously.

Allow on the basis of common sense. There are a lot of grandparents under the age of 70 and without underlying conditions and similarly over70 without health conditions. People should be allowed to use common sense.

The rules do not make sense. Separated parents can see their mutual children and the children can travel between these parents. Yet in many single parent households a grandparent or grandparents are really important for support and caring. The current framework discriminates against grandparents, does little for well being and mental health for all parties. Let parents and grandparents make their own choices about what is best for them and the children.

Absolutely agree. Stop punishing young children and let people make the decision based on their own health condition.
