Allow estate agents to reopen
Estate agents should be allowed to reopen and viewings should be allowed to re-commence.
As well as being an important part of the economy, the property market should be one of the easiest sectors to reopen. Viewings can be conducted with minimal risk compared to, for example, local shops or hairdressers, as it is much easier to observe social distancing and maintain essential hygiene measures - entry to properties can be controlled by the agents, door handles can be disinfected before and after each visit, throughput of people is minimal compared to shops, etc, etc.

Why the contribution is important
- Lockdown has left buyers and sellers stuck in chains where sales and purchases are either paused indefinitely or falling through, with the associated mental health and financial impacts of this.
- People able to work from home long-term should be allowed to move to properties that will better facilitate this.
- Recent surveys are indicating people want to move out of city centres for the better quality of life in less urbanised areas, which would bring benefits to physical and mental health through enabling them to have better access to green spaces.
- New rental properties are now on the market thanks to the collapse of AirBnB's business and could be used to house people wanting or needing to move, with associated benefits to responsible landlords.
- Westminster has issued little or no guidance on this matter.
