Allow Hairdressers to open in line with German and Spanish controls

Spain and Germany have recently allowed Hair Salons, Hairdressers and barbers to reopen albeit with lots of controls in place, There is no reason why this could not be replicated in Scotland with the equivalent or even with additional constraints in place,

Why the contribution is important

As you know we have been going through lockdown for well over a month. The boost many people would get being able to visit their hairdresser or barber and getting tidied up and some pampering would be enormous. We only need to look at how Spain and Germany (and any other countries) are controlling this and apply whatever constraints the advisor recommend. Additionally many hairdressing businesses are run by locally self-employed people who are not beneficiaries from the furlow payments and this would give them a much needed income.

As long as business implement suitable restrictions let's get them open.

Let’s get them open so customers have the choice to use. Many people will say that they can’t operate social distancing but these people should just simply not use them and allow others to.

I personally have never caught a cold or any bug from sitting in a hairdresser.

Stick a facemask on and get your roots done.

Taking proper precautions with distancing between customers, and PPE for hairdressers and clients along with stringent hygiene procedures would bring a visit to the hairdresser down to less of a risk than visiting the supermarket.
Important for clients mental health and self esteem. This sector is also a huge part of today's economy. Other countries seem to be managing just fine with regulation.

I hope to see the reopening of beauty salons and hairdressers early on during the phased removal of lockdown. I think they are vital for people including a massive improvement in mental health and morale and this lockdown has highlighted how undervalued beauticians and hairdressers were. PPE is essential but if someone small businesses would like to open soon they should have the ability to do so and offer the treatments they are comfortable to offer.

Hairdressing/barbers need opening fairly soon with suitable health protection measures , agreed protocol and ability to contact trace. Ultimately we will all have to learn to live with this "new normal" and accept that there will be a low additional risk for many months. Businesses need to be able to restart, and people need to have a morale boost of looking good again.
I would suggest the same for podiatrists and beauty salons, although the latter possibly later in the phased approach to a new normal.
