Allow museums and art galleries to reopen

Museums and art galleries should be allowed to re-open, with the usual social distancing rules in place.

Why the contribution is important

Musems and art galleries are vital to the cultural life of a nation. The same is true of theatres, cinemas and concert halls, but I can understand that social distancing is far more difficult, and infection much more likely, where large groups of people are sitting in an enclosed space for a relatively long period of time. However, it should be quite easy to apply social distancing in museums and galleries - at least as easy as in shops. If necessary, have people book time slots - but if so, please allow phone bookings as well as on-line bookings, as not everyone uses (or has access to) the internet.
An additional point here: not everyone can afford to go often to the theatre or to a concert or film, whereas the majority of museums and galleries are free (apart from temporary exhibitions), and thus affordable by all.

I completely agree with this idea. It should not be difficult to put in place physical distancing measures. If necessary, ticketing could be put in place (as suggested) - have bookable (free) time slots - but a queue for people who haven't booked in advance (but could be admitted if people who have booked don't turn up).

Reopenings could also apply to museums and galleries which charge admission (e.g. Camera Obscura, Scottish Whisky Experience) and other places with guided tours (e.g. Holyrood Distillery, Palace of Holyrood, etc). As long as physical distancing is applied, and people showing any symptoms of Covid-19 are not admitted, I don't see why this cannot happen.
