Allow new-build homes which are 80% complete to be completed safely.

Any new build house or apartment which is 80% complete when sites were advised to stop construction should be allowed to restart to finish and meet contractual obligations to clients.

Just a Few weeks work on these could provide hundreds of millions of pounds to the Scottish economy.

Mortgage offers are expiring and people will lose the sales on their houses.
Allow the Scottish government to let housebuilders restart for properties over 80% complete already.

Why the contribution is important

Any will loose their homes and mortgages offers if construction is stopped for much longer, many plots are days away from being completed. Which equates to hundreds of millions of pounds to the Scottish economy,.

If 80% complete then workers will be working inside in closer proximity to each other. Face masks would be required, given the acute shortage for health workers, is this an appropriate use for face masks? Only if there is a surplus in the supply chain of face masks should this be considered.

My new home in Scotland is 90% complete just needs painting and interior doors fitted
Builder can do it safely but Scots Govt say NO.

Many properties were weeks away from completion, people are in temporary accommodation and have mortgage offers which are running out. Construction has continued in England and many other countries in Europe throughout lockdown. Work could continue safely even if construction is slower.

Local authority/council Surveyors need to return to work to allow habitation certificates to be issued for houses completed- this will also allow exchanges & moves to take place that were put on hold immediately after lockdown.
