Allow public sector empoyees looking after children to be furloughed

Allow public sector employees who have to look after children to be furloughed.

Why the contribution is important

Mental Health and wellbeing. Currently public sector employees are required to work full time and also look after and educate their children. This is placing a great deal of pressure on them, causing mental health issues.

I suggest, allow employees with family to either use annual leave, salary sacrifice or loan additional leave or work arranged reduced hours.

Hi unfortunate my employer is not allowing special leave and with children to feed I can I’ll afford this anyway. They advise to take time out to look after children however are still putting copious meeting in diaries and asking us to do non essential work. The workload has increased dramatically as managers are spending less time travelling and more time asking for work. I am having to work until 3 am sometimes to catch up then up at 6 with my children, then expected to do a full shift whilst meeting the constant demands of children under 5. Annual leave I have summer and Xmas holiday period booked again to look after my children. If I cancel these three is nobody to look after them. Furloughed staff are able to look after their children whilst still getting paid from the public purse at 80%, public employees should be given this equal right as soon we will all burn out
