Allow Recreational Camping

Allow families to go camping.

Why the contribution is important

Good for wellbeing, good for childrens development and free up space in busy areas of towns and cities that are overrun by families looking for active space.

I think this might open the tourist floodgates. Not what we in the Highlands want....just yet, sorry.

Wild camping should not be allowed, only at official campsites.

I am a regular camper but can't agree with this one. There would be a problem with communal toilet and shower blocks on camp site that would be diffucult to manage. We can't allow wild camping to resume either as although this is low risk wrt virus spread, increased wild camping will lead to other problems as not all are responsible folk. Not sure if the people living in more isolated and more scenic parts of Scotland would be too keen on influx of potential virus carriers from central belt and/or England either. Camping will have to wait and restart when things like gyms are deemed safe.

The privately owned static caravans are self contained units, which do not rely on site facilities, e.g. they have their own showers, toilets, cooking and sleeping facilities. As a result they do not rely on site facilities and therefore it is very safe to self isolate.
On the other hand Motorhomes, touring caravans and tenters do rely on site facilities, which wouldn’t be feasible.
Any sites with entertainment and eating establishments would need to keep these parts of the business closed.
This would be best for any family owned static caravans and not caravans let out to the public.

    Shared facilities a definite no-no.
Importing of virus from urban areas to rural ones another major issue
