Allow return to Sea Kayaking for Excercise

Sea kayaking is a very healthy and social sport and exercise and my club are currently happily not going out on the sea. It would be great if we could put together a Risk Assessment to allow limited numbers to get back out following all the required guidelines.
We can easily keep our social distance and mostly do travel independently so can be an easy one to set up. Even if just local to our area for starters this would be great for our fitness and mental health. Thanks.

Why the contribution is important

We need to get back out for our own fitness and mental health and our sport is an individual one usually done in small friendly groups who can easily keep a social distance. Our boats are nearly 20ft long and that would be our usual distance apart. Easy to do and set up with a bit of planning and communication.

No more risk than at any other time in my view.

Sea kayakers want to get back on the sea as soon as reasonably practicable and safe.

It would be welcome if any phased relaxation of current SG restrictions recognised that the sport can largely be pursued without jeopardising the key health policy objectives.

In the meantime our club will continue to set a good example and comply fully with restrictions set by Scottish Government and with the recommendations of the Scottish Canoe Association and the RNLI, that all paddlesport activity on Scottish waters cease until further notice.
