Allowing Scheduled operations

Some people are suffering from health problems/complications which they may have already had before the pandemic.
If they had surgery booked/planned before the lockdown happened and was cancelled due to the virus, could they not proceed with these surgeries.
Some people may not well due to having current health issues. I'd have thought that it would put those people more at risk to get the virus if their body/health was struggling.
Maybe their health would improve and it would help them be more at ease and able to cope through the rest of this lockdown. Please consider this.
As I've heard, we're not supposed to ignore our health or other symptoms... Then why when all risks have been checked cant the people who were supposed to have operations before the lockdown have them done. Ignoring conditions and medical problems could end up being serious.

Why the contribution is important

This is coming from someone who was scheduled to have their gallbladder removed 2 months ago. I'm suffering daily from pains, continually uncomfortable, and struggling with eating without having gallbladder attacks. To top it off for the last few weeks I've been having small temperature spikes. I also have no idea if it puts me at more risk or not for this virus. I assure you that I'm not the only person who would benefit greatly from scheduled operations being done again.

It’s essential for scheduled operations. Again this leads to social anxiety, worry and all that leads to Depression then illness on top of there existence one. If social distances is properly put in place. The surgical staff tested for covid 19 and the patient tested on arrival. With recovery unit after care put in place. Probably require more waiting time and patience.

I am awaiting a test to check if I have cancer in my bladder. I think of it all the time and await a letter every day to call me in for this test. I was initially scared to go into hospital to be honest, but now I am assured that Covid patients are separate and testing is ramping up, I am much more relaxed about going in now. This is weighing heavily on me and I know I'm not the only person in this situation. Please re-start these tests/ operations / procedures as soon as possible.

The issue here comes down to a number of important areas:
    1) How do patient's fare post-operatively if they get coronavirus whilst recovering?
    2) Is ICU capacity great enough to cover burden caused by elective surgery?
    3) Are there enough anaesthetists, scrub nurses and operating department practitioners at the moment to do this considering many of them have been redeployed to the ICU to provide the additional staffing and equiptment?

At the moment the answer is generally:
    1) Unknown/badly
    2) No
    3) No

I agree with scheduling operations, health checks, tests and perhaps whilst we have the capacity within our hospitals now is the time (and keeping the Louisa Jordan hospital for covid-19 patients) to keep them separate from our main hospitals if possible?

Tests for people for covid-19 prior to going to hospital for their postponed surgeries & treatments & tests for anyone prior to any treatment with any GP’s and/clinics too.
