Approving Social Distancing Plans for Business, Time -Slot App

My idea is based upon my experience in the architectural sector but also involves the use of modern technology employed in other scenarios.

I am aware that for new buildings and for the sake of licensing we need to produce plans and drawings to show max capacity for pubs bars restaurants ect so that in case of a fire there is enough provision to provide safe escape. These same drawings can be re-tooled to allow business and mangers of public buildings to demonstrate they comply with social distancing to the public licensing and planning department by showing a percentage of this capacity will be allowed in at a time.

In order to manage this I thought about when I visited the Picasso Museum in Barcelona where you queue for a ticket but are given a time slot. The issue which is already happening is that many people are already queueing on the street and taking up space to access supermarkets and shops offering take-aways. What if there was an app that any business who was allowed to open could access and this allowed people to book time slots to enter. The app would manage the number of people who were able to come in based on the capcity that business was permitted to maintain in order to maintain social distancing. Someone could enter the shop with their phone and a door man could scan their QR code to let them enter.

There are a number of potential issues with this but its an idea and in it´s essence I think very practical based on existing tech and infrastructure. It should allow business to open while ensuring people's safety and reduce the stress of having to queue and take up street space.

Why the contribution is important
