Being open about how 'all health' consequences are being weighed

As a public health adviser I'm really aware of the negative health consequences of lockdown - lack of exercise, family stress, alcohol, loneliness, and so on as well as the devastating effect on health that will come through economic failure. I think the government need to be open with the public over how this is being considered. That is by keeping people safe from Covid are they going to be at risk of something else related to lockdown.

Why the contribution is important

We can't consider one aspect of health alone and we need to see both how decisions are being made and be involved in managing risk

It’s frustrating to see detailed statistics about CV, but only empathy and concern about the other issues. That is appreciated, but not enough. People seem more likely to have direct experience of the negative impacts of lockdown on their health, even if only minor, than CV itself has, and it would help to know how these are taken in to account for decision making.
