Closed six seater compartments, like they used to be in yesteryear would help contain household or 'bubble' groups to one space making long journeys safer, especially if one member is more vulnerable.
Single unit or small 2 or 4 units could be made for commuters , reducing air circulation between all in an entire train, reducing the risk of transmission.

Why the contribution is important
Longer term, consideration need to be made to allow freedom for those for whom travelling in enclosed spaces is risky. As long as Covid-19 remains a factor, public transport ought to be able to be made as safe as possible.
