Business reopening Timescales

Businesses need a bit of notice to open back up.

Why the contribution is important

Not many businesses can open up at the drop of a hat. Many will need to bring in social distancing measures in the work place which may take a week or two to implement they may also need to look at which staff to bring back initially and again many businesses will need to unfurlough staff on stages.

Offices that can social distance or businesses that open to the public should have and idea of the order in which things are ‘likely’ to be lifted so that they can make plans to be ready.

Yes, fully agree, most businesses would be happy to comply with recomendations and should be allowed to plan to reopen where this can be done safely. A whistleblowing number could be made available to allow workers to report any concerns.

I wondered if larger office, manufacturing or factory based companies could return staff in staggered rotation. Say a third of the work force work in a three week rotation, which would essentially mean you work one week, isolate for two weeks which should show up any symptoms of infection. Then if symptom free turn up for work at the start of the next cycle. Whilst I understand not ideal it would get at least some of the economy moving.

Where are the children supposed to go if business reopens, smaller childcare setting would need to open

Private/smaller childcare is still in place just reduced as people not working don't need it. My daughter, who works in this has been working throughout, but with reduced hours looking after essential workers children.
