Care homes - appropriate measures for differing client groups
Not all care homes are for the elderly and some consideration should be given to applying appropriate lockdown measures for differing client groups / settings. For instance, some care homes are for young adults with Learning Disability (LD). Apart from their own LD, a lot of these young adults are physically fit and healthy. If the care home is in a remote setting, then consideration should be given to relaxing the lockdown to allow these adults to get back to some sort of normality. Measures that could be introduced could include:
1. reopening workshops in the 'protected' environment (this would allow these people to 'get back to work')
2. introduce testing for friends and family to facilitate visits to the care setting
3. introduce continual testing of all carers

Why the contribution is important
This would allow people with a Learning Disability to get some semblance of 'normality back into their lives. At present they are isolated and confused with serious detriment to their mental health. This is being evidenced in behaviour changes.
