Children back to school as soon as possible

Children need to get back to school as soon as possible, they are missing out on valuable education and developing the social skills which they will need.
They are suffering from not mixing with friends and physical and mental health are all suffering.
Go back on a phased return and reduce the summer holidays to a couple of weeks to accommodate the need for more classes of less pupils.

School reopening should be given the highest priority. There is little evidence that children infect adults and the actual risk to children themselves is very low. Education is crucial to our country's future. We cannot allow our children to be absent from school for almost half a year. Home teaching and the use of technology is a very poor substitute for actually attending school.

Absolutely need to re-open schools asap! We have had proof that children are extremely unlikely to be infected..so why are we told the uncertainty of opening is because "keeping our children safe is vital"?? The harm being done to them now as every day passes will be with them for the rest of their lives!

A phased return for all children needs to be a priority.

Apart from the vital education they are missing you can’t underestimate the damage it’s doing to children mentally being off.

Yes it is critical not to overwhelm the NHS. But mental health services for children were already long past broken. There’s no way it can cope with the fall out of lockdown as it is, never mind if it’s prolonged. While this might not be as tangibly measurable as mortality rates, the impact for future productivity and GDP will be felt for many decades to come. The backlash is likely to be extreme if parents feel the government failed to protect their children.

Remote teaching should be increased but be more focused and teacher led - especially create the opportunity for one to one video links for tutorials between teacher and pupil.
This would take the weight of parents especially key workers and those working at home and tap in to the vast teacher at home resource.

Once that little evidence becomes clear and we know children cannot infect others then great.
    Until then stay closed.
