Clear Communications

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this comment but one of the things I have noted is the lack of clarity around many of the points and issues relating to how we move forward. Especially with regard to the potential differences between the different countries going forward.

Today I read the "Coronavirus (COVID-19): test, trace, isolate, support strategy" and one of the things to come out of this for me is this completely different from and not dependent on the NHSX app currently under development. Whilst I have read the strategy paper, I suspect I am in a minority and hence I suspect most people will think that the "test trace & isolate "and the NHSX are one and the same or indeed the Scottish initiative is based on the NHSX app when this is not so. The differences and the reasons between the two need to be spelled out with absolute clarity. For example, I know a number of people are worried about using the NHSX app especially after recent news paper articles about AI and tracking and hence being absolutely clear about how the Scottish "test trace and isolate strategy" differs will help quell those concerns and encourage people to participate. in the Scottish plan. This may appear a bit nuanced however I believe future communication giving absolute clarity about the differences in policy and what this means for individuals living and in the future visiting Scotland is a prority. I suspect that at times when sitting in government what looks clear and obvious is often much less clear to those of us outside and hence I propse that all future communicatisons especially spoken and written is abolutely clear including possibly having to say what feels like the obvious.

Why the contribution is important

It is clear that if we are to move forward successfuly we need to keep everyone on side and accepting the contstraints of the "new normal" unfortunatey a lack of clarity around policy and what it means for people can only to often result in divergence with the risk of prolonging the lock down exit phases.
