click and collect to get shops operating but no increase in social contacts as no customers in the shop

all retail shops should be allowed to open immediately if they do a click and colect service for customers meaning there is no interaction with the public but gets the economy going ..we actually started this in our shop the day before lockdown as it was becoming to busy in the shop and unfair on staff trying to keep customers 2m apart. as a shop worker i trust my work colleagues to be safe but wouldnt be comfy with opening to public just yet.

Why the contribution is important

gets economy going but in a safe manner

How about doing deliveries rather than collect. Pop a small delivery charge on.

My experience with click and collect is positive so far. It could be improved by making the shop's full inventory/stock available at the point of ordering. When inside a supermarket it can be difficult to maintain distancing because some have awkward layouts. And people don't generally have a good 2m spatial sense other than in front of them - they'll step backwards or block an aisle. Much better if majority of shopping can be done without going inside the shop!

Much safer to shop like this than going inside and yes delivery even better if that can be organised.

Delivery, rather than click & collect

Click and collect should be changed so that a click and collect station is set up in the carpark so that shoppers do not need to enter the store at all to pick up their orders. This works best for drivers however a similar solution could be implemented for non drivers.
