Close the border.

Scotland with less cases and more outdoor space should be back to normal ASAP. Given we're not as congested as England and have significantly less cases. Outdoor activities such as hillwalking etc should be allowed to continue.
The health benefits from outdoor recreation only boosts an immune system. I feel being locked up inside only creates further health issues and a nation unable to fight off the common cold never mind covid.

Why the contribution is important

Because until covid 19 one of our biggest concerns were mental health.

It may be too late for this but borders of Scotland should have been closed long ago. It is perfectly possible to close air, sea and land borders. Freedom of goods movement can be maintained. Thousands of people are entering UK still with no health checks whatsoever.

Extremely unfair point. You mention mental health being impacted here, but you want to close our borders, knowing full well that plenty of Scots (you only have to look through this forum to see the number of people in this position) have family and loved ones across the border? How does that impact on their mental health? Or does that not matter? Plenty of people on this forum are already pleading to be able to loosen restrictions so they can be with their family again. This should NEVER be a political matter. This would only cause a further impact on people's mental health and tear families apart.

If the infection rate rises significantly in England above that in Scotland crossboarder traffic into Scotland should be restricted. More important however is to close airports or monitor incoming passengers

Taking control of the border and crossings is just another form of restriction of movement such as we have today. Accordingly, I do not see that as causing a disproportionate impact on family life between relatives on each side. We saw what happened with the flood of selfish individuals and crowds into the countryside of Scotland and Wales when 'lockdown' was introduced.
Controlling the border and crossings in respect of this issue and this issue alone is no more than a tactical move to counter what appears to be irresponsibility of other policy makers and following on from decisions and tactics that were employed and that have managed to effectively, and surreptitiously, enable operation of the disgraced 'herd immunity' policy, whether or not that was the intention.

My son is at uni in England. He was home visiting when lockdown started so has thankfully been home with us. All her personal items are still in his halls at uni. We would like to be able to drive down to recover them.
