Communications

Many people, especially the young, do not listen to the news, read papers or watch traditional TV etc so we need to have increased comms via alternative platforms that have more appealing and targeted messages. Perhaps consider using some popular personalities to front campaigns.

Why the contribution is important

Want to reach a much broader population, particularly one who may suffer fewer symptoms but are most challenged by the restrictions.

I would go further and use personalities who are proven communicators in the daily FM broadcast. David Hayman might be good to read the stats in a clear, solemn and empathetic manner, supported by simple graphics.

For inspiration, watch NY State Governor Andrew M. Kuomo, easily found on YouTube and sometimes on CNN. E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwEldF5Me9Q

We do need to reach out to the teenage population who are still coming together in groups. Message should get right to the point and not mixed with other messages. As suggested by Mike Johnston, consider use of personalities, comedians who are expert in delivery. This way everybody will get it.

Simple message/reminder to everyone: Saving lives starts with you. or - Beating this virus starts with you.
Print in credit card form and send to every household. Also encourage supermarkets etc to hand out to employees and customers on entry. This slogan will soon catch on.
