Community Service?

When the country is trying to get back on its feet perhaps the Scottish government could make it compulsory that all 18-24 year olds have to work for one year in Scotland doing community service which could be all or a mixture of farm work/conservation work/environmental work/care work. They would be paid the Scottish Government's living wage.

With a considerable drop in employment predicted, potentially less places at universities and colleges and perhaps poorer than expected examination results our young people will be struggling in the year or so after lockdown. Let's give them valuable skills to last them throughout their life whilst also solving some of Scotland's employment problems. Our young people deserve to be invested in and praised for being part of the solution to our communities.
